This university’s name was changed on July 5, 1996 from Kyrgyz State Medical Institute to Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. During the great patriotic war in Kyrgyzstan, the 2nd Kharkiv medical and Stomatological institute and the Moscow Stomatologic institute joined KSMI.
